Good things come in threes. That is exactly what the Charleston Winter Series offers with walks and runs scheduled in December, January and February.
Don’t fret, however, if you missed any of the events. You can still get outside and start moving to shed those pounds packed on during the winter hibernation. The third and final installment of the series this season is set for Sunday, Feb 3. A 5,000-meter walk (3.1 miles) is scheduled for 1 p.m. and a 10,000-meter run is slated for 2 p.m.
Sponsored by the Tallman Track Club and the city of Charleston, all events start at 31st Street and Virginia Avenue. Registration is at Charleston Area Medical Center Memorial Hospital. Same day registration for the event is $20.
The courses are flat, marked and there will be traffic control at major intersections.
Runners and walkers who finish all three events in the series will receive a hooded sweatshirt. There are no age group awards in the walk, just the top three females and males. In the run, the top female and male will win awards. The run also has age group awards of at least three deep, but 25 percent will win awards in big age groups.
