Charleston Police have made an arrest in connection with a robbery Monday night in Kanawha City.
Officers took Troy Allen White, 43, into custody Tuesday evening. He is charged with second degree robbery after police say he robbed Max's Place.
According to the criminal complaint, he sat down briefly then walked to the front door and looked outside. Police say he then turned around and looked at the clerk and stated, "I want you to be nice because I'm going to rob you," and then grabbed the cash register.
The victim told police she could see a large knife in his back pocket and began backing away in fear for her safety. White then allegedly slammed the register until it opened and grabbed the money inside. Police say he fled on foot.
Crews are on the scene of an alleged robbery in Kanawha City.
Workers at the bar say a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and gloves walked into Max's Place around 7:30 p.m. Monday and began playing the slot machine. He then walked the over to the clerk, with a knife behind his back, and told the woman he was going to rob her.
The worker said she ran out of the building and the suspect then allegedly opened the cash register and ran off with unknown amount of cash.
Anyone with information on the robbery should call Charleston Police at (304) 348-6829.
