The bullets from the Hatfield-McCoy feud went on display Monday at the Coal House in Williamson. Recently found in Hardy, Kentucky, the rounds were fired when the Hatfields attacked the McCoy cabin on New Year's Day 1888.

The raid was a turning point in the then 23-year-old feud. 20 days after the raid, the Hatfields were in jail.

WVU Extension Professor Bill Richardson participated in the discovery. He said that " This is amazing. These are world class artifacts. You don't have the bullets from the O-K Corral. You don't have bullets Jesse James fired. So they're one of a kind artifacts that are just amazing to have.

The bullets may be the tourism icing on the cake that follow a huge boost from the History Channel mini- series. Doyle Van Meter and Jerry Akers who play feuders in local reenactments say they hope that's true.

The Coal House that also serves as the office for the Tug Valley Chamber of Commerce is open Monday through Saturday, The show Diggers will detail the recovery of the historic ammunition on national TV Tuesday.
