A winter advisory remained in effect through 7 p.m. Friday with light snow showers expected overnight and through Saturday morning.
Eyewitness News Chief Meteorologist Jim Barach said the major snowfall has already occurred, but he expected the snow showers would continue through Saturday morning, creating slippery driving conditions. Snow showers could be heavier in the mountains.
About 50 accidents had been reported in Kanawha County between noon and 3:15 p.m., Metro 911 said.
Meanwhile, the forecast calls for improved conditions on Saturday with the high temperature above freezing. Temperatures were expected to jump into the mid-40s Sunday with a warming trend through Wednesday.
