A West Virginia state trooper injured while trying to stop a shoplifting suspect has been released from the hospital and is now resting at home.
Sgt. Aaron Nichols suffered a serious head injury on New Year's Eve while trying to stop a shoplifter in St. Albans.
Eyewitness News has been told that the sergeant was released from the hospital Tuesday and stopped by the South Charleston detachment to visit with his fellow troopers.
Nichols is still recovering from his injuries, and no date has been set for his return to duty.
