Dozens of people took to the streets in Huntington for the annual Civil Rights March. It's a tradition in Huntington's Fairfield West neighborhood to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Angel Plante said, "To me he was a man of God who served mankind, for a ll needs for all people for all times and we try to continue that legacy of him on this day."
After the march, participants met at Calvary Baptist Church's Fellowship Hall to watch President Obama being sworn into office. Stephanie Holman said, "As one race of African Americans we couldn't have put him in office. We had to have people from every race and segment to put him in office."
Norma Woolfolk lived through the civil rights movement and was moved watching the inauguration Monday afternoon. "Martin Luther King said he had a dram, Obama said I am the dream. It wasn't a pretty picture back then, but today, thank God it's beautiful."
It was a day of commemorating a civil rights leader and supporting the leader of the free world. Holman said, "He said he wanted to see us as on people, the president wants to bring the country together and I thank God for that because we have to be united as a people."
