As bitterly cold temperatures rise slightly and slowly Tuesday, much of the viewing area will be lucky to reach the 20s for high temperatures. It will feel much colder than that, however, because of west-northwesterly winds making it feel like between 0 and 10 degrees during the daytime. Counties in the mountains of West Virginia, those above 2,500 feet, are under a Wind Chill Advisory through 10 a.m. Tuesday. Those dangerously low wind chills, generally in the zero to -10 degrees range, could lead to frost bite. High temperatures on Wednesday will be a bit warmer with a high in the mid 20s. Wednesday evening also is expected to see brutally cold temperatures. Lows are expected to be between 5 and 10 degrees. Viewers in our region may see 1 to 2 inches of snow Wednesday night into Thursday. Meanwhile, the Friday morning commute looks like it will be treacherous, with a mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow. You can always find your Storm Team Weather webcast online at wchstv.com. If you are feeling a bit bitter about things, you have lots of company – bitter cold weather is expected to grip the region. Eyewitness News Meteorologist Brandon Stover said high temperatures were expected to reach the mid-30s Monday, but with a gusty, westerly breeze, it will feel much cooler. Some snow squalls in the later afternoon and evening could be briefly heavy, especially north. Monday night calls for frigid cold with dangerously low wind chill readings. Lows will bottom out near 10 degrees, but it will feel more like 0 to -5 degrees. Motorists are advised that any flurries or showers could create icy conditions. Stover said 1 to 2 inches of snow will fall across the far northeast, Parkersburg to Clarksburg and into the mountains. Even though the Kanawha Valley will dodge the snow, we can still expect bitter temperatures on Tuesday. Highs will reach 20 degrees, but it will feel more like zero to 5 degrees with the gusty winds. There could be a few flurries at times, especially in the mountains. Meanwhile, Wednesday it will be a little warmer in the upper 20s with a chance of snow showers late in the day. Thursday is mostly dry during the day, but there could be freezing rain/sleet and snow by day's end into the overnight as a low pressure tracks in from the west. The weather forecast looks sloppy into Friday. Saturday conditions are expected to be cold with snow showers before a moderating trend by Sunday. MORE NEWS FROM EYEWITNESS NEWS
