Three people are behind bars accused in a string of armed robberies in Huntington.
Police say they got a call shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday night that five men in a car were robbed at gunpoint in the 500 block of 20th Street, behind Domino's Pizza. The men said they were in a parked car when two black men, armed with handguns, came up to them and took their cell phones and other belongings. The men then took off running.
Police say one of the victims was able to use a tracking application on is phone to lead police to Gary's Bar in the 2000 block of 10th Avenue. Units surrounded the bar and took four people into custody. During a search of that bar; police were able to find the weapons used in the robbery, the victims' belongings and more stolen property that linked the suspects to the armed robbery of three Marshall University students in the same area on Friday night.
Police arrested 25-year-old Julian Johnson, 22-year-old Antonio Lockhart and 22-year-old Monroe Avant. All three are charged with armed robbery, but more charges are pending for two of those suspects in connection with Friday's robbery. The fourth man who was taken into custody was later released.
Marshall University students living nearby where the robberies occurred say they are on edge.
Kelsey Jacobsmyer says everyone in her dorm is talking about the robberies. She said she roams the streets at night and says it could have easily been her.
"It's scary," Jacobsmyer said. "I walk around at night and I bike around a lot, it could have been me."
Two of the victims in the robbery Saturday night were taken to the hospital for minor injuries but are expected to recover.
