Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin appointed Tina Combs to the West Virginia Board of Education.
Combs will replace Jenny Phillips, who resigned earlier this month in protest to the firing of Jorea Marple as state schools superintendent.
Combs has served as president and chief executive officer of the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Chamber of Commerce. She is a past chairwoman of Region VII Workforce Investment Board. Combs holds a bachelor of science degree in organizational leadership and development from Mountain State University, a certificate in community economic development from Virginia Institute for Economic Development at Virginia Tech and a certificate for nonprofit organization management from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
