Students at Kenova Elementary in Wayne County were forced out in 2011 when state officials shut it down due to a sink hole underneath the school.
More than a year and a half later, students are stuck in modular classrooms on a ball-field while those in the town are trying to find a new home for the school.
For Chad Bumgardener who has a student in the modular classroom, a bond vote that failed last month, was his and other parent's hope for a new building.
"I was hoping the bond was going to pass," Bumgardener said. "However it didn't."
Thursday, a meeting was held by Wayne County Board of Education leaders to brainstorm ideas for a temporary school as the modular classrooms are too expensive, costing $32,000 a month.
Kenova mayor Rick Griffith said one idea is to make space for 12 classrooms in the newer section of the old C-K Highschool.
"I cant stress enough this is just an idea," Griffith said. "We're looking at many ideas."
Board of education officials said they plan to have meetings in the future where more ideas can be put on the table.
