A Jackson County substitute teacher accused of trying to solicit a teenage girl online now faces fewer charges.
Prosecutors dropped three of the charges against Dustin Mullins, 22, on Wednesday.
Mullins is still charged with solicitation of a minor via computer. Jackson County deputies arrested Mullins on his first day teaching at Kaiser Elementary earlier this month.
He is accused of having a relationship with a 15-year-old student he met while student teaching in Wood County. Mullins is now free on bond.
A Jackson County teacher who was arrested and charged with soliciting a minor earlier this week is not teaching anywhere in the county, School Superintendent Blaine Hess told Eyewitness News.
Dustin Mullins, 22, had been assigned to substitute teach at Henry J. Kaiser Elementary School.
Hess said school officials take these matters very seriously and will continue to review the allegations to make a decision on Mullins' future employment.
Mullins is accused of trying to solicit nude pictures from a 15-year-old girl he met while student teaching in Wood County.
A Jackson County teacher has been arrested for allegedly trying to get a 15-year-old girl to send him nude pictures of herself via Facebook.
Dustin Mullins, 22, is charged with solicitation of a minor via computer, use of obscene matter with intent to seduce a minor and two counts of attempt to commit a felony, Jackson County Sheriff Tony Boggs said.
He was a student teacher in Wood County. That’s where the girl is from. He was a teacher at Henry J. Kaiser Elementary School.
