The eastern end of Kanawha County was hit hard by Wednesday morning's rain. The rains caused flooding problems near Chesapeake.
The water poured off hillsides and small creeks, flooding roadways and some homes along Winfrede Hollow.
Residents blame a damaged culvert and said requests to highway and public service district officials have gone unanswered.
The water was still rising when Eyewitness News rolled into Chelyan Wednesday morning.
"My girlfriend, she's already started moving stuff out of the back bedroom because it's right at the bottom of the floor," Roy Wehrle said.
Leonard Petry of Chelyan said residents have called and tried to get the situation fixed. "It's ruined two or three houses here," Petry said.
Meanwhile, there were minor flooding problems reported in Nicholas, Logan, Fayette and Lincoln counties.
The ground was saturated from a night of heavy rain and flood-prone areas were likely to still see problems from runoff Wednesday afternoon.
