Cabell County School Board members voted to accept a $5.6 million bid to build a new bus garage in Lesage.
The bid came from a company out of Weirton, West Virginia. The company plans to use several local subcontractors for the job.
The garage will be located at the old public library across from Cox Landing Elementary School, and should be completed in 12 to 16 months.
Assistant Superintendent of Operations Michael O'Dell believes the garage is a good fit for it's location.
"We think we will save money. We won't have the dead head miles," says O'Dell. "We'll be getting the traffic out of the village of Barboursville. We will have the Merritts Creek connector right there. We think it will be an advantage for our drivers."
The current garage is located in Barboursville and has been there since the 1960's.
