Concerns over new federal gun rules appear to be fueling a rush to get concealed carry permits in Kanawha County.
Deputies say applications have doubled requests for the permits in the wake of the Newtown murders. They received more than 100 permit applications in a single day.
The county has issued or renewed about 10,000 valid permits in the last five years.
The application process costs a total of 105 dollars.
