Short staffing, numerous arsons throughout the city and budget cuts plagued the Huntington Fire Department last year.
The good news for the department is that it will be able to increase its staff.
Huntington firefighters are beginning a recruitment drive to add more staff members to the ranks.
Anyone interested in becoming a probationary firefighter can pick up applications at the city clerk's office. Candidates will take a written exam and a physical fitness test.
