If you would like a crack and cleaning up that unsightly litter along the highway and debris you have spotted on land and in streams, the state of West Virginia is providing an opportunity.
The state is now accepting applications for the 2013 West Virginia Make It Shine statewide cleanup.
The deadline to apply is March 1. The event will be held during the first two weeks of April.
The program will provide materials, waste hauling and landfill fees to community groups, volunteering to conduct litter cleanups on state streams or public lands. Last year, more than 4,800 volunteers removed about 220 tons of litter and debris.
