Huntington police arrest a suspect in connection with an attempted armed robbery at a bread store.
Brandon M. Lewis, 20, of Huntington was arrested Saturday. Police responded to an armed robbery about 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Heiner's Thrift Store on Washington Avenue. A suspect in a black hoodie put a cake on the counter, pulled out a knife and demanded money from the register, according to a criminal complaint from the Cabell Magistrate Court. The cashier ran to the back of the store for help while the suspect allegedly tried unsuccessfully to get into the register and ran out, the complaint said.
Police said they were able to locate the suspect on West 13th Street, were he was positively identified by the cashier.
Lewis is charged with robbery and was being held at the Western Regional Jail.
Huntington Police are on the hunt for a man who they say tried to rob a bread store in broad daylight.
Dispatchers say a man walked into the Heiner's Store in the 1200 block of Washington Avenue shortly before 11:30am Saturday, pulled out a knife and demanded money.
Dispatchers say the cashier was able to run away from the suspect, and the robber then took off without any money.
The robber is described as a white man, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and baggy blue jeans.
