Huntington police are asking for the public's help after a Marshall University medical student was brutally attacked and put in the hospital.
Police said that the attack happened at 7 p.m. Wednesday between the 1300 and 1400 blocks of 15th Street. The 24-year old woman was walking home when she was beaten. The woman remembers nothing from the attack, but witnesses say they heard a woman screaming and a struggle ensue. The suspect got away with the woman's phone and was last seen running down 15th Street. The only description of the suspect is that it was a man wearing dark clothing.
The woman went to find help when she collapsed. She is now recovering in the hospital with face and head injuries.
Police believe this was a random attack. Police do not have a description of the suspect and need the public's assistance. Anyone with information is asked to call 304-696-4420.
