Students from different Putnam County high schools had a chance to act like real-life business leaders at school Thursday.
Volunteer bankers from the Putnam Chamber of Commerce spent the past semester teaching students about leadership and business skills.
The volunteers taught the students how to develop and market a product and how to make a profit, which was then donated to the charity of the students' choice. Students said the real life lessons will help them prepare for the future.
"We had to do a lot of work on our own, so it really helped us in that way," Senior Kristen Parsons said. "I mean, taking in a lot of responsibilities that we're not used to."
Marty Chapman with the Chamber of Commerce said it provided the students a good, real-world practice in entrepreneurship. "If you want to go into business yourself, this is what you're looking at down the road," Chapman said.
The Business Symposium is now officially part of the school's curriculum in Putnam County.
