A boil water advisory was issued by the McDowell County Public Service District for the Big Four area.
The advisory was issued Wednesday due to a main line break. Big Four is an unincorporated area in McDowell County.
Officials estimated the problem would be resolved within a week.
Meanwhile, the public service district said customers should bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, bathing and food preparation until further notice.
