After three years of planning and preparation, a new master's program is available at the University of Charleston.
The university is now offering a physician assistant master's degree.
Orientation for students who are interested in the program began Monday evening.
The inaugural UC physician assistant class consists of 30 students from 15 different states.
This is the first graduate program in the school of Health Sciences at the University of Charleston. The Health Sciences school also offers a nursing program, athletic training and radiological sciences.
Physician assistant is one of the fastest growing medical occupations in the United States.
