West Virginia libraries have launched a reading challenge to mark the state's 150th birthday in 2013.
It's called "West Virginia Reads 150," and the goal is for West Virginians to read 150 books during the course of the year. The West Virginia Library Commission, the West Virginia Center for the Book and libraries across the state are behind the project.
They say people can read 150 books individually, or they can join in teams of up to 15 members to read 150 books collectively.
The program is not limited to public libraries, but is also open to bookstores, school and academic libraries, literacy organizations and others.
