A woman told authorities she and her boyfriend and baby were robbed at gunpoint at a Cross Lanes motel where the suspect threatened to kill them if they called police.
Kanawha Sheriff's Deputies S.M. Adams and J.M. Martin responded to the Cross Lanes Motel 6 at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
The deputies were met by the victim, Jacquelyn A. Thomas, 25, of Cross Lanes. Thomas said she was staying at the Motel 6 with her boyfriend, Bryant Adkins, and her baby. Thomas said she heard a knock at the door and opened it for a man she knows. Thomas said that after a brief time, the man said he “hated to do this in front of the baby.” The man then pulled a handgun and ordered the people in the room to give him valuables.
Thomas said she gave him a small purse that contained about $200 and her identification. The male reportedly told the occupants that if they called the police, he would return and kill them. The male reportedly got into a maroon-colored Oldsmobile Alero, possibly driven by a female, and fled the area.
The suspects names are being withheld at this time as the incident remains under investigation by Adams. Anyone with information that may help in the investigation is encouraged to call Adams at 304-357-0169.
