Two Kentucky residents have been arrested after deputies said they were making meth inside a home where children were present.
Nick Kintigos, 43, and Melissa Gillum, 26, both of Greenup County have been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and wanton endangerment. In addition, Kintigos was charged with menacing, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous narcotic charges, according to a release from the Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to 57 Water Street Friday evening, to serve papers when they discovered an active meth lab in the back bedroom of the home. Deputies said Kintigos and Gillum were operating the lab. Two children were taken to a local hospital for decontamination.
Deputies said Kintigos became violent, resisting arrest and officers had to subdue him.
Deputy Cody Fuller was also stuck by a needle inside Kintigos' pocket during the routine search of the suspect. Deputy Fuller went to the hospital to be checked out later that night.
The investigation is ongoing and other charges are likely to be filed.
