A man hunting for rabbits in Cabell County Friday afternoon found what appeared to be a human skull, Cabell County Sheriff Tom McComas said.
The man was hunting along the Ohio River off Route 2 north of Lesage when he made the discovery, the sheriff said. He bagged up the skull, took it home and then contacted the sheriff's department.
Law enforcement officers are searching the area to see if they can locate any additional remains. They believe the skull may have washed ashore from the river.
