Law enforcement officers in Scioto County, Ohio, made a large dent in a drug trafficking organization when they seized 186 pounds of marijuana and $216,000 in cash.
The Southern Ohio Drug Task force searched a home in the 2200 block of Flatwood Fallen Timber Road in Lucasville about 7 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Scioto County Sheriff's Department. Three suspects were arrested -- Adam Casares, 35, Marcelino Rodriguez, 37, both of Donna, Texas, and Frederick Jordan III, 38.
The seizure is a part of a long investigation that the task force officers have been conducting, the news release said. Investigators believe thousands of pounds of marijuana were brought to Scioto County from Mexico for quite some time. In addition to the marijuana and cash, officers seized eight guns. The marijuana that was discovered has a street value of about $186,000.
Casares and Rodriguez were charged with trafficking in marijuana within the vicinity of a juvenile and possession of marijuana. Jordan was arrested on a warrant for a charge of trafficking in marijuana. Casares and Rodriguez are each being held in the Scioto County Jail on a $1 million bond, while Jordan is being held without bond pending an arraignment in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.
