State Police said a Clay County woman was charged with counterfeiting after she allegedly passed counterfeit $50 bills at a grocery store, a convenience store and at a residence.
Amy Ellen Jones, 31, of Lizemores was arrested after three incidents that occurred in early December, according to a criminal complaint filed in Clay County Magistrate Court.
State Police said on Dec. 6 they responded to a call on Grassy Fork Road in Lizemores where a woman told officers that Jones came to her residence and asked her to make change for a $50 bill. The complaint said the woman said she was unaware the bill was counterfeit and gave the suspect change.
Meanwhile, State Police said Jones also is accused of passing counterfeit $50 bills at the Lizemores Grocery and the Little General store in Lizemores on Dec 5.
