Brent Benjamin is getting another turn as chief justice of the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.
The position of chief justice is determined annually by a vote of the court. Benjamin was elected to succeed Justice Menis Ketchum, who served as chief in 2012.
Benjamin previously served as chief justice in 2009. Under his leadership that year, the court established an Access to Justice Commission, a Compliance Committee on Prisons and Jails, a Domestic Violence Registry, a Mental Hygiene Registry and a Northern Panhandle Re-Entry Court.
Benjamin was elected to a 12-year term on the Supreme Court in 2004.
