It's the changing of the guard for Huntington. New Mayor Steve Williams is in his new office and ready to lead the city. Williams says he's sticking to his campaign promise, no tax hikes. "I'm not going to raise taxes, especially with the economy the way it is, it's not fair for us to take money from them for us to do things."
First time ever in Huntington, a Mayor won't be sittin at the table with council during meetings. he'll be in the audience. "It's a council meeting and if I sit at the end of the table with them it shows a division of power. There no need for the mayor to interject too much in the debate with council."
On the eve of his inauguration, Williams says the public will see a different kind of party. He'll share the stage with new council members to be sworn in and the party will be family friendly. "I'd love to hear kids squalling in the audience and see people with blue jeans, kids moving around. We'll have a bluegrass string quartet too."
