Two sisters helped save their father during a heart attack last month at their home in Putnam County.
Autumn and Erin Karnes quick actions led paramedics to their home in Poca in time to save their father's life. Eleven year old Autumn Karnes said, "I called 911 and told her his eyes went in the back of his head and that he was breathing funny."
Autumn's eight year old sister told her their address so the dispatcher could relay directions to paramedics. "At our school they teach us our addresses and phone numbers and stuff," said Erin Karnes.
The girls' mother, Elizabeth Karnes said, "They're brave and had to have been terrified for them. I'm glad they were there and knew the address."
Putnam County 911 Dispatcher Karie Maynard said, "Gad we could help, many times, 911 dispatchers are the unsung heroes and we don't get to see what happens with calls after we take them. it's a blessing to us to see he's doing well.
Michael Karnes survived the heart attack and had a double by-pass surgery.
