Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark Plants was sworn in Friday for his second term as prosecutor.
Before being elected to his first term as prosecutor, Plants, a former West Virginia University football player, served as assistant prosecutor for two years.
"Each obstacle you face, as long as you have the best interest of the office in general and the best interest of the citizens of Kanawha County, you can't go wrong," Plants said. "That's what I did the first four years, that's what I plan on doing the next four years."
Last year, Plants told a Charleston newspaper that he considers some of his biggest accomplishments to be doubling the number of indictments countywide, in addition to speeding up the process to move the criminal cases through the county court system.
