The Huntington Area Food Bank set up its mobile unit to distribute food for families in Lawrence County, Ohio, on Thursday.
More than 5,000 pounds of food, including almost 100 turkeys, were given to about 100 families in Chesapeake. Organizers said some families were wiped out of their food stock after providing a holiday meal. The food bank's report showed a little more attention needed to be given to the area.
The food bank said it wouldn't be able to provide food to the Tri-state without the area's support. "Without those organizations and businesses, it wouldn't be possible for us to bring the food to these communities," Sasha Colette of the Huntington Area Food Bank said.
