The garbage collection schedule in Huntington and Charleston is being affected by the holidays.
In Charleston, as a result of the Christmas day and New Year's day falling on Tuesdays in the coming weeks, the city refuse department will adjust its collection schedule by one day for all customers during the weeks that include both holidays.
City officials said in the days that follow Christmas and New Year's day, refuse workers will conduct their normal Tuesday rounds on Wednesday, run the scheduled Wednesday routes on Thursday, collect from regular Thursday customers on Friday and complete the usual Friday collection cycle on Saturday.
In Huntington, Mayor Kim Wolfe's office said garbage pickup for this week will be as follows:
There will be regular pickup Monday, no pickup Tuesday, December 25, and pickup will be one day late for the rest of the week. Garbage will be picked up Wednesday through Saturday.
