Terry Brumfield said he doesn't plan on changing his Christmas plans, but he said his family may be receiving a few more gifts.
Brumfield, 65, of Harts will have a little extra cash on hand as he was introduced Friday morning at West Virginia Lottery headquarters as the state's newest millionaire. He won $1 million in Wednesday's Powerball drawing, matching five numbers.
You'll never believe what Brumfield did when he realized he won. He said he went home and took a nap. His wife had to wake him up to see if he even looked at the numbers on his ticket. "She said, 'Did you check your numbers?' And I said, 'Yeah.' And she said, 'Well, they say someone around here has won.' I said, 'Yeah, me.' She went to her knees," Brumfield said.
The ticket was purchased at the the Little General store on McClellan Highway in Harts. Lottery officials said the store will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
Brumfield is a contractor with D&M Construction.
