HEROIN CONSPIRACY CHARGES Charleston Man Sentenced To More Than Six Years On Heroin Charge

A Charleston man was sentenced Tuesday to six years and three months in federal prison on heroin conspiracy charges.
Marcus Lamont Miller, 42, previously pleaded guilty in August to aiding and abetting the distribution of heroin, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin’s office. Miller admitted that on Jan. 23, 2011, he sold about 3.9 grams of heroin to a confidential informant working with the Metro Drug Unit.
The illegal transaction occurred on the West Side of Charleston. Miller also admitted that he was in the company of a known associate during additional illegal drug transactions completed in the Charleston area.
On Jan. 24, 2012, Miller and a known associate were arrested after they arrived at a predetermined location to complete an illegal heroin transaction. Law enforcement agents recovered about 14.49 grams of heroin from underneath the seat of the vehicle occupied by the defendant and his associate. Agents also served a search warrant on the defendant’s residence and recovered two firearms.
