The Sissonville Volunteer Fire Department is warning of a scam in the area.
Members of the department said they have received multiple reports since Monday that a person saying he is from American Income Life has been contacting area residents and wants to sell Amber Alert kits.
Firefighters said the individual seems to be suggesting that he is working on behalf of the Sissonville Volunteer Fire Department and is requesting personal information including Social Security numbers and credit card information.
The department is not participating in the sale of any Amber Alert kits and urges you to not give out any of your personal information.
Anyone with information should call the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office at 304-357-0169 or the West Virginia State Police in South Charleston at 304-558-7777.
