Route 2 in Cabell County reopened Thursday afternoon about four hours following an accident that killed two and hospitalized one, dispatchers said.
The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. just south of Spurlock Creek on the Cabell-Mason county line. The two victims who were killed were in the same vehicle. One other vehicle was involved in which a person had to be transported to the hospital.
The accident happened on a bridge and icy conditions are believed to be the cause.
Two people have died and one person was sent to the hospital in an accident on the Cabell-Mason county line.
The accident happened about 9:30 a.m. Thursday on Route 2 just south of Spurlock Creek in Lesage, Cabell County Sheriff Tom McComas said. The accident involved two vehicles on a bridge. The two victims that died were in the same vehicle, McComas said. Authorities believe icy conditions on the bridge may have contributed to the accident.
Route 2 will be shut down for an extended period while authorities investigate the accident.
