The battle over rezoning West Sixth Avenue in Huntington continues.
Huntington resident Toni Karle wants to open a social hall called the "Red Door" at 213 West Sixth Ave. The area in the neighborhood is currently zoned for residential.
"I just doesn't make sense that we can't look at rezoning issues and have this zoned as commercial-residential so people can open respectable businesses rather than drug houses we see opened by landlords in areas where people don't care," Karle said.
Carol Crossan has lived in the neighborhood in question and opposes the idea. "I'm not afraid of change at all," Crossan said "I just want it to stay a neighborhood. If more apartments come in, there will be more drug dealers and prostitutes."
The rezoning outcome is now in the hands of city council.
