Two people were arrested after Kanawha deputies said they stopped a vehicle and discovered it was stolen.

Cody Allen Dalton, 20, of Larado and Chasity Wilson, 20, of Foster were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and transferring and receiving stolen property for the stolen license plate, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy J.L. Miller was on his way to the sheriff’s office headquarter at 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he saw a car run through a red light at Clendenin and Virginia streets in Charleston. He stopped the vehicle and discovered the license plate was stolen from Logan on Dec. 8 and the vehicle, a black Ford Taurus, was stolen from Madison in Boone County on the same day, the release said.

The release said Dalton and his passenger, Wilson, his fiancee, were visiting family in Madison and were without transportation so they began searching and located the Taurus that had keys in the ignition, so they stole it. Deputies said there also was a high-powered rifle in the car that they later pawned for gas money. They drove to Logan where they then stole a license plate before heading to Charleston to shop at the Charleston Town Center, the release said.

Dalton and Wilson were taken to South Central Regional Jail.
