A man was arrested outside of Logan Tuesday morning after police say he shot at West Virginia State troopers and then barricaded himself inside his home.
It happened in the Whites Addition area about 10 a.m. State Police Capt. Dave Nelson said they were called to John Curtis Watkins' home for an attempted suicide. Nelson said when troopers arrived at his home, he fired a gun at officers and then refused to come out of his home.
Emergency dispatchers were able to get Curtis on the phone and persuade him to come out of his home, Nelson said. Nelson said Watkins came out of the home and was arrested without further problems.
He has been charged with wanton endangerment. He was being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail.
