A teen was in critical condition Monday after police say he accidentally shot himself while hunting.
The shooting happened about 5:30 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of state Route 7 South in the Clay township of Ohio. A 19-year-old man was riding an ATV when a shotgun fell and discharged, shooting him in the chest, according to a news release from the Gallia County Sheriff's Department said. Witnesses said he had been deer hunting. The victim was airlifted to St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington where he was in critical condition.
The Gallia County Sheriff's Department, Gallipolis Fire Department and Gallia EMS responded to the scene.
