The name of a miner who was killed in an accident at a Greenbrier County mine early Friday has been released.
Steven Odell, 27, of Mount Nebo was killed in the incident at Pocahontas Mine A White Buck Portal near Rupert. Officials said Odell was a certified electrician and had worked at the mine 2 1/2 years. He had been a miner for three years.
The mine is owned by Virginia-based Alpha Natural Resources.

A miner was killed after an accident at a Greenbrier County mine early Friday.
A 27-year-old employee whose name has not been released, was caught between a scoop and a continuous miner, West Virginia Department of Commerce Public Information Specialist Leslie Fitzwater said.
The accident happened about 1:30 a.m. at Pocahontas Mine A White Buck Portal near Rupert.
The victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The mine is owned by Alpha Natural Resources.
This marks the sixth mining fatality in West Virginia in 2012.
