Overnight burglars stole an office safe, tried to break into another safe and drove off with the loot from the Elk Power office in Clay after stealing one of the company trucks loaded with copper wire and tools.
The red Ford F-350 utility truck is unmarked and still missing.
Company officials said it would have taken two or three suspects to steal the safe that contained about $600. Clay County sheriff’s deputies are investigating.
