This November 2012 election, a very close race decided the next sheriff of Mason County.
Greg Powers won against his opponent Gordon Clark by 190 votes. The race was heated because the former sheriff of Mason County, David Anthony, resigned and is serving a sentence for embezzlement and firing a gun at his son.
Power said the interim sheriff is doing a good job, but will still be tasked to reassure confidence in the department. Power said he plans on running the department like a business.
"You have to tell people what you expect," Powers said. "That's not something that has been done very well, but it can be done, we've got some good people working here."
