People in Huntington got the chance to burn off some of those calories before they ate Thanksgiving dinner Thursday morning.
Hundreds of participants attended the 6th Annual Turkey Trot at Ritter Park. The event raises nearly $15,000 every year for Little Victories Animal Shelter.
The winners got their pick of a pumpkin pie or a turkey. Organizers wanted a fun holiday event for the whole family to enjoy.
"Families are together. It's a holiday. Everyone wants to get some fresh air and fellowship before they sit down and have a big meal later on in the day," said race organizer, Patty Jennings.
Organizers dedicated the race to Huntington native, Patrick O'Dell. He was killed in California on Tuesday and was an avid runner and animal lover.
