Dry, warm conditions have state fire foresters urging people not to burn yard debris until it rains hard again.
More than a dozen wildfires are reported in southern West Virginia today.
While it is still legal to burn from 5 in the afternoon until 7 a.m., Fire Forester Tom Oxley urged people not to burn outside at all until there is " significant rainfall."
Arson is suspected in several forest fires, but the largest, a 1,000 acre blaze in Boone County, is blamed on an underground mine fire. It was still burning Tuesday inside fire lines.
60 acres burned in Lincoln County in a suspected arson fire. Another large blaze was reported Tuesday near Belle.
Oxley says several fires in Kanawha County were set.
