A Wayne County woman was sentenced after she moved to a new state and didn't update her sex offender registration.
Tammy L. Payton, 42, of Crum was sentenced to one year in a federal prison and 10 years of supervised release. Payton was a convicted in July 2001 in Lawrence County, Ohio, for complicity to commit rape and kidnapping of a child, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's Office.
Payton was supposed to update her sex offender registration in West Virginia after she admitted to moving from Ohio to West Virginia, beginning in July or August 2007, the release said.
Under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, convicted sex offenders must update their registration if they move to a different state.
