An accused shoplifter is behind bars after troopers say he led them on a chase and then tried to lie about his identity.
Troopers say 51-year-old Douglas Hicks was shoplifting at the Walmart in Huntington Monday afternoon. They later spotted his car and tried to pull him over, but they say Hicks got out of the car and took off running.
After a short chase, troopers caught Hicks, but they say he gave them a fake name. They had to use a portable fingerprint scanner to find out who he really was.
Troopers say Hicks was wanted in Charleston for burglary and a parole violation.
