Three people have been arrested and charged with attempting to operate a meth lab at Jarrett Terrace, an apartment complex on Charleston’s West Side.
Police identified the suspects as Jaime Nichole Myers of Hurricane, 25, Jennifer Michelle Johnson, 38, of Nitro and Christopher A. Smith, 51, who lives at Jarrett Terrace.
Charleston police answered a disturbance call about 1 a.m. from an apartment complex resident complaining a man was walking around on the second floor banging on doors. When police arrived, the man said he was trying to get some personal belongings back, but he said his stuff was on the ninth floor. That’s where the man thought he was. So, everyone went up seven stories to the ninth floor. When officers entered apartment 906, they allegedly smelled meth in the making.
The criminal complaint alleges Myers and Johnson admitted that they have been previously arrested on meth-related charges. All three are at the South Central Regional Jail, where they are each being held on a $50,000 bond. Their preliminary hearings have been set for Nov. 28.
Apartments 906 and 907 have been locked up until they can be tested.
