Fire investigators are working to determine what cause the fire at the abandoned home in the Handley area of Kanawha County Friday afternoon.
The fire happened about 1:30 p.m. along Second Avenue. No one was inside the home, but Eyewitness News has learned that house caught fire two years ago.
Route 61 was closed for about half an hour Friday, while crews battled the blaze. No word on what started that fire.
Route 61 in the Handley area of Kanawha County was shut down Friday afternoon due to a structure fire, a Metro 911 dispatcher said.
The blaze apparently was at an abandoned house on Second Avenue, the dispatcher said. It was reported at 1:30 p.m. The structure was fully engulfed in flames, and the Handley Volunteer Fire Department was at the scene.
